Join the millions of people that are looking for RELIEF for your pet (and possibly even yourself!) If you are here because you are self-diagnosing or trying to help your pet after the treatments from the vet haven't worked fast enough or not at all? Either way, you have come to the right website! We will educate you and show you alternatives to traditional medications from the medical field.

Mange is a word that makes people want to run as fast as they can! It doesn't mean you or your pet are DIRTY, most mange is brought on by things OUT OF YOUR CONTROL.

You will discover there are 3 different types of mange:

  • Demodex (Demodectic)

  • Sarcoptic

  • Notoedric

For more information, please get our FREE E-Guide,
it will have more detailed information.

Although Mange is sometimes diagnosed, a lot of times the mites are burrowed so deeply or move so quickly, they are hard to detect. A deep (3-5 dermal layers deep) skin scraping needs to be done to correctly diagnose demodetic mange, and bleeding needs to occur.

Has your pet seemed

  • TIRED

  • SCRATCHING A LOT

  • IRRITATABLE

  • DRINKING MORE

  • EATING LESS

  • GETTING BALD SPOTS AND NOT SLEEPING

  • DOES THE SKIN FEEL LOOSE?

  • HE MAY BE LOSING WEIGHT!

He may have mange! Of course, in a perfect world, a correct diagnosis from your veterinarian would at least let you know what you are dealing with. But, since most cases are not diagnosed or worse, misdiagnosed, you have wasted valuable time and money (not to even say what your poor pet has been going through)!

Some cases that have been misdiagnosed are told they have allergies, dermatitis or even dealing with fleas.

Are you starting to feel bad for adopting a needy pet from a shelter to find out you have possibly exposed yourself and your other pets to MANGE?

TAKE HEART! There is help!

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MANGE:

Which MANGE does your pet have?

Hopefully your vet told you more than just MANGE.

First, it would help to know a bit about each. The most common types of "mange" are sarcoptic (or "itch") mange, demodectic mange ("red" or "puppy" mange) and ear mite mange (sometimes just called "ear mites"). There are some other mange conditions caused by chiggers and other tiny microscopic insects, however, all are very different.

Sarcoptic Mange - Sarcoptic mange mites and can thrive in and spread through filthy conditions, however, a dog can pick it up easily from contact with another dog or by being 'near' where such an animal has been. It's no reflection on your home!! Sarcoptic mites can bite any animal, including humans, and the toxins they release when they bite will cause horrendous itch to dog or human. Sarcoptic mites will NOT live a full life cycle on a human. But you will continue to itch, even have a rash, as long as you are re-infected by your pet. For more information on Sarcoptic Mites, please read our Free E-Guide.

Ear Mange or Ear Mites - Ear mites cause ear mange. This is a pretty minor type of mange. It is pretty much confined to the ear/ear canal area, but actually these mites can eventually spread to other parts of the body. Pretty easily diagnosed, it sort of looks like 'coffee grounds' in the ear, which is actually the remnants of dried blood. Or you may find 'fresh' blood in the ear canal from scratching. Ear mites can cause some significant discomfort and a lot of head-shaking and scratching and must be treated to avoid significant secondary problems that can include hearing loss. You can use our Mange Cream for Ear Mites.

Demodectic Mange - Demodectic mange is very common and is usually found in puppies. It often starts as a flaky, rough, sometimes reddened & moist patch of skin - often on the face, head, neck, ears, chest or front legs/paws. The skin often looks bumpy and rough and may even be damp or oozy. Later pustules resembling acne cysts can develop as the inflamed skin pores/hair follicles get clogged from debris from the mites and become infected and puss-filled. Sarcoptic mange is commonly thought to be a disease found only in the worst conditions. It's not uncommon for dogs that have been homeless to contract sarcoptic mange. These mites only breed IN the dog's skin. It's easy for your pet to pick it up from the neighborhood stray if the infected stray was passing through the yard and depositing mites/eggs in the area. Vets often don't usually let you know how contagious it is to other pets and to people so it's usually hard to prevent re-infestation if you don't know.

Demodectic mange is not contagious to humans and it has nothing to do with living conditions, but it is the hardest (and more often, takes the longest) to treat. All puppies are born with them, transmitted from the mother - the weaker the puppies are, the more susceptible they are to have a problem with them. Demodex mites are found on every mammal with hair - including humans. A dog with a healthy immune system usually won't have visible signs (no visible signs or symptoms, usually no problem). When the immune system is low, the mites uncontrollably start dominating.

Demodectic mange in older dogs can be brought on by "triggers", triggers can be anything from stress, poor diet, bad living conditions, teething, loneliness, getting their vaccines, moving to a new home, a change in routine, departure of a family member, grief, steriods, antibotics and chemotherapy drugs, even sadness. Some people don't understand that an animal has "feelings" just like humans. They are affected by some of the same conditions that make us sick as well. Understanding that certain things may inevitably cause the onset of demodectic mange, you can take steps to avoid them.
